It’s a principle that everyone wants to be acknowledged and thanked for. Even if it’s just a “Thank you” or a letter appreciating someone for the work they have done. However, celebrations, ceremonies, and events have a much longer-lasting impact on a person, which therefore increases the performance made.
People want open communication, they want someone to verbally be grateful and uplift them. It’s human nature. Human beings are social animals. And the best way to do so is publicly. There is a difference in self-esteem when awards are given to employees at a Gala dinner where there is a standing ovation and a thank you email.
Below is a list of 6 types of celebration that should be made at the workplace; encouraging team members to continue striving for success.
Cyclical Celebrations: When key milestones are reached, corporate anniversaries appear, or individual birthdays pop up, it's important that a celebration is organized. It could just be a simple dinner with your team or a fun golfing trip.
Recognition Ceremonies: Public applause and acknowledgement for a task well done, the best in the class, reaching a specific goal, or getting a promotion should be rewarded with a ceremony.
Celebrations of Triumph: Special occasions for the completion of a project, beating the competition, achieving a specific rank, launching a new product or solution, or opening up a new office, plant, or store deserves an event.
Rituals for comfort and letting goal: Not all workplace life is about victory; they can also include calamity and loss. The loss of a contract, a layoff, the death of a colleague, a site closing would not include a happy celebration, but also an event for thought and reflection.
Workplace Altruism: Celebrations of doing good for others, promoting social change, and showing appreciation to customers and clients.
Play: Energizing meetings, field trips, games, and sporting events.
To create an impactful organization, team members must feel that the work they are doing is acknowledged. Therefore, having these relaxing and engaging events inspires team members to put in their best while also focusing on the goal of success.
